Midnight Tea Party
GJ - The Birthday Boy |
Cosmopolitan ($16.50)
We were greeted by our extremely bubbly, quirky waiter and quickly taken to our table outside in the 'garden party' area by the heater. It was cosmopolitans all around for GJ's birthday (his choice not mine, I personally think he has been watching too many episodes of Sex and the City). As it was his birthday all of the waiter's gathered around to sing him happy birthday and presented him with a cosmopolitan and sparkler on the house. What I love about Gazebo Wine Garden, The Winery and Manly Wine, apart from their quirky waiters and amazing decor, is their great PR. This is not the first time I've been offered food and beverage on the house for special occasions at these venues. They are extremely generous and I find myself recommending anyone and everyone to go for the friendly service!
Little Lobster Rolls
Olives in rosemary oil
Whole Roasted Chicken
The menu has changed slightly since the last time I visited. The major change being the introduction of the shared platters. We started with two servings of olives in rosemary oil ($9) and the little lobster rolls (three for $19). I am a sucker for a slider so I enjoyed the lobster rolls immensely however KJ said they had too much mayonnaise on them for her liking.

Damn good bbq'd lamb burger |
For the mains GJ had the 'damn good bbq'd lamb burger and fries' ($20), LY had the 'roasted mushrooms with pesto, pine nuts and ricotta' ($18) and LL the 'steak frites' ($29.50). GJ complemented the chef on the burger but said it would have been outstanding if they had used the tomato relish that they use on their sausage rolls rather than normal tomato sauce. LY didn't say much about her mushrooms but they were all gone so they must have been good! LY enjoyed his steak and fries finishing with the comment of "it was an interesting take on steak" which is open to all types of interpretation! KJ and I shared the 'free range coal roasted chicken and baby veg salad' ($49). It was huge to say the least! It says it should be shared between two, maybe three people but I feel we could have ordered just that for the five of us! It came with a mountain of sweet potato, squash, roasted beetroot and lettuce. The beetroot was to die for. We were more than impressed with the dish but sadly left at least half of it!
As much as I love their chocolate brownie we were off to cross off another restaurant on our birthday weekend check list for dessert! I will visit Gazebo Wine Garden again very soon, it is still my go-to for classy pub grub!
