My outfit today consisted of a lot of green mixed with block colours and finished off with a smart red lipstick! Overall, it was a very bold outfit choice for a casual friday!
"The Grounds"

Today my usual Friday coffee buddies AB and CA met me at "The Grounds" at Alexandria for an early lunch. It really is an experience, the ambiance is magnificent! This is my fourth time at "The Grounds" and every time my experience gets better. Lunch starts being served from 12:00pm and we arrived at about 11:50am. We still had to put our name down with the friendly man with the clipboard but only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table (as opposed to 1.5 hours on a previous visit. The time before I had arrived quite late (approximately 2:30pm) and was able to walk straight in so maybe next time I will be back for another late lunch!

Luckily the wait is very peaceful. You are able to take a seat in their yard amongst beautiful gardens, fresh produce, live chickens and people eating takeaway from "The Grounds" (be aware the takeaway line was out of the door as well). The actual dining area of "The Grounds" is beautiful. It is a large, extremely light and refreshing dining room with two main dining areas, a takeaway counter and a separate coffee counter. The takeaway menu is slightly different to the dine-in menu and is written in chalk above the counter.

"The Grounds" roast their coffee beans and have their own blends ... and take their coffee very seriously! Needless to say, the coffee is delicious! CA made a comment when AB and his cappuccinos ($3.50) arrived that "... you know it is going to be a good coffee when you can smell the rich coffee beans wafting from your cup". Today, I passed on the coffee and went with an EBT (on previous occasions I have had two at each visit). I love how the EBT was plated. It came on a wooden board with the milk in a mini milk bottle. We were all very impressed!

Today we had the confit trout with pearl barley ($16), roasted beetroot and goat's cheese salad ($14), "The Grounds" burger ($18), a bowl of fries ($6) and green beans ($5) on the side. We shared them all and were very satisfied when we were done! Surprisingly, we were most impressed with the green beans dressed in oil and salt. Who knew something so simple could be so delicious! The burger was succulent but not oily, the beetroot salad was lovely with the addition of hazelnuts for crunch and orange for acidity and the trout was tasty but I am not a big fan of pearl barley! The first time I visited "The Grounds" I wasn't overly impressed by the menu but there are lots of yummy options to choose from on their current menu. Last time I had the meatballs with oozy mozzarella, an orange juice and the rhubarb tart. They were a standout!

Overall, you are guaranteed a lovely experience when you visit "The Grounds" ... you are not just going their to have a meal. I am dying to go for breakfast, however it ends at 11.45am and with the risk of having to line up for an hour for a table and my love of sleep-ins I feel I might never get there! Maybe one day?

Oh, and make sure you check out the bathrooms ... they are very cute!
