Pretty In Pink

Day Turned Into Night
Top: Topshop
Skirt: Topshop
Bag: H&M
Shoes: Shakuhachi
Every once and a while you have to wear something pretty, something pink! I like to think of this outfit Blair Waldorf meets Barbie which is a strange concept considering the two don't really fit together. Something about the fabric and patterns in both my top and skirt scream something Blair would put together, however her skirt would be several inches longer!

I think one of the tricks of mixing patterns is keeping the same colour tone. Every article of clothing in these photos is a stand out piece alone. Many people would never consider putting these pieces together as they are too outrageous. However, I think they work perfectly together, complementing each other well. I could have worn the sparkly tee with plain pants or the plaid skirt with a white tee but as you know I like to live on the edge when it comes to fashion. I say why not add an outrageous floral shoe and leopard print sunglasses to the mix ... I want my outfit to stand out!

Both my top and skirt are recent purchases from 'Topshop'. Initially I picked the items up separately and didn't consider wearing them together but as soon as I put them on in the change room I fell in love! The sheer sequin tee works well as both a day and night top! I always love a good plaid and I can't get enough of Topshop's mini skirts lately. I just love the cut as they are slightly longer at the back. I now own three in different patterns! I have had my eye on the 'flower power' high heels from 'Shakuhachi' for a long time and have been itching to get my hands on a pair. Finally, they have arrived in store. I can't possibly think of a more perfect pair of heels to wear all Summer party season. Totally appropriate for garden parties and nights on the town! They really just speak for themselves!

What a lovely way to spend the first day of Summer than brunch by the water at Neutral Bay. Today KJ and I headed to the popular cafe "Thelma and Lousie" by Neutral Bay wharf. Apart from the cafe and wharf there isn't much else there except for a hairdresser, convenience store and a small restaurant. However, the cafe was full to the brim! It is definitely a local hot spot as you wouldn't just stumble across it!

The cafe really has a picture perfect view and location. Sydney really does have lovely bays. "Thelma and Lousie" is situated right on the water with the balcony build over the rocks. It seats around fifty people and had a line out the door with people waiting for tables. We were lucky enough to snag a prime position table outside on the balcony.

The decor is very cute. The main attraction is the big automobile installation hanging from the ceiling over the counter. On the wall behind the counter is a long line of garden gnomes! Hanging on the feature wall are various handmade canvases with kitchy quotes.

When you walk in you are instantly drawn to the large glass cabinet at the counter overflowing with homemade sweets. It is filled with several cupcakes, cookies, cakes, baklava "Adriano Zumbo" tarts and various other goodies. KJ instantly lost all intentions of having a savoury meal and opted for a sweet one! They do an all day breakfast of the usual staple items. They have a set lunch menu which consists of great fresh foods with a Mediterranean twist. You can choose from antipasto plates to salads and seafood pastas. They also have a large specials board. Today it consisted of a seafood risotto and grilled salmon fillet which both looked divine.

KJ ordered the popular citrus cake. When the waiter took her order he advised that the positions were large and boy, was he right! Literally more than a quarter of the cake arrived on our table with whipped cream and fresh strawberries! It was extremely moist and tangy from the lemon. She managed to finish it as it was so delicious! I had the sautéed mushrooms with fresh herbs, (hold the bread) and a side of roast tomatoes. KJ actually had food envy. The mushrooms were meaty with just the right amount of garlic and herbs whilst the oven roasted tomatoes were tender and juicy with a nice hint of oregano. I had an EBT which came in a huge pot with a strainer. This rarely happens. So many times I order tea and it comes in a tiny pot and is way too strong! There is such a difference between good and bad tea! KJ had a latte. They use 'Little Marionette' coffee beans, need I say more. Of course, the coffee was amazing. I did have to steal a little, I can never pass up a cup of "Little Marionette". You are able to order a bowl of coffee ... I can't think of anything more perfect!

Sautéed Mushrooms and Roasted Tomato: $9.6
Citrus Cake $7.5
E.B.T $4.8
Latte $3.8

It was such a pleasant morning spent by the water, eating great food at such a humble cafe. It is easy to forget that we live in such a beautiful city. Thelma and Louise is definitely a winner. Next time I have visitors "Thelma and Louise" will defiantly be on our list of things to do!
