It is definitely worth going to "Bird and Bear" simply for the view. It was very peaceful sitting in the sun looking out onto the water. The waitress' will even bring your coffee to you if you wish to sun bake on the jetty!
KJ asked the owner what happens if it rains. He simply said they have to close. Some would say it was risky opening a purely outdoor cafe in Winter but I say "great move" as word of mouth will definitely have spread by Summer and the place will be booming!
The coffee was ordinary but I didn't take too much notice as I was too engrossed in my surroundings! They use Vittoria coffee beans, not my favourite choice! It did come extra hot though! The food front was limited but appealing. Everyone around us was eating the poached egg salad, which looked big, colourful and very appetising!
Lucky we went when we did as we just beat the big, black storm clouds! I expect this cafe will be a winner in Summer!

On the way home KJ and I stopped off at Vincent Gardan's "Patisse" in Danks St. We were intrigued by his desserts after watching three contestants from Masterchef take on one of his crazy desserts in a pressure test. We just popped in to grab something to take home for afternoon tea. While we and another man stood there admiring the "Salted Praline Parfait" dessert the contestants took on, Vincent Gardan came out of the kitchen for a chat! He told the man that he had twenty minutes to go into the kitchen and cook the dessert! We had quite a decent chat about his experience on Masterchef. It was a very pleasurable experience. After lots of debating over meringues, cheesecake and macaroons we decided on one of the "Salted Praline Parfaits" and a chocolate mouse, chocolate raspberry ganache and tempered chocolate cake. We shared the delicious chocolate treat for afternoon tea. It was mouthwatering! The mouse was light and fluffy and the chocolate and raspberry ganache gave it a nice punch! We are a bit nervous to try the parfait for dessert!
